Sleep with Me
No sleep podcast list is complete without Sleep With Me. Known as the Sandman of sleep podcasts, this highly praised show is perfect for any insomniac or just those of us who struggle to fall asleep. In each episode, the narrator takes a random topic and fills it with extra tangents, rambling sentences, and a soothing monotone voice, making the show as incomprehensible and sleep-inducing as possible.

Deep Energy Podcast
If listening to people doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, maybe a podcast with ambient sounds will do the trick. Deep Energy does just this – Think rainstorms, streams, sunsets, drums, and ocean waves. Not only do these sounds help with meditation, but this type of ambient noise has been shown to help you fall asleep faster.

Nothing Much Happens

It’s all in the title: “Nothing Much Happens” serves up low-stakes tales for those who like bedtime stories, but are at risk of getting hooked on anything too engaging or suspenseful. Feel safe dozing off knowing you’ll miss absolutely nothing important.

Game of Drones

If you like “Sleep with Me” then we guarantee you’ll be a fan of “Game of Drones.” Recounting the events of the series and adding in copious (sometimes wonderfully irrelevant) asides mined from the books, it’s the ideal sleepy-time listen for fantasy enthusiasts—yes, even if you hated the final season.

Our Top Tips For A Digital Detox and What To Expect

Ever considered a digital detox? The world is slowly opening back up and we for one are thrilled we have reasons to leave the house again and not be glued to our electronics 24/7.

So much so that we started to look into the benefits and what to expect from stepping back from our devices.

Why should I do a digital detox?

There are many reasons why a digital detox is beneficial to us. Especially as the average adult spends around 11 hours looking at a screen each day and checks their phone on average once every 10 minutes.

First of is sleep, If you’re struggling to get off to sleep at night, you’re not alone. Sleep is one of the most affected areas of our lives by technology and screens and the plethora of data at your fingertips can really keep you up at night.

Replying to emails or watching Netflix will keep your brain engaged, making it much more difficult to eventually relax. Our phones and laptops also emit a specific type of blue light, which our body associates with the sun and therefore with daytime.

Not using devices before bed can allow for the proper functioning of your body’s natural daytime and night time rhythm, making it much easier to get a good night’s sleep. By following our tips below you’ll find it that much easier to stick to a digital detox.

1.       Track your digital use

A good place to start with a digital detox is to analyse and track your current usage, it may surprise you to see just how much time you spend on your phone, laptop and other devices! Once you know how much time you’re spending on your devices, it’s a good opportunity to set yourself realistic goals and targets. How much could you really cut down on your current usage?

2.       Set yourself boundaries

Many modern devices offer the great ability to apply restrictions on your devices and app usage. You can use this feature to accommodate for tech-free hours, we recommend no tech usage 90-minutes before your bedtime and 30 minutes after you make up in the morning.

3.       Delete the most time-consuming apps from your phone

Now you know by tracking your usage how much time each app is taking up, you could either temporarily or permanently delete these apps from your device. You may find you’ll be more productive and can focus on the things that truly matter in your life.

Many factors of a digital detox can be hugely beneficial to not only your sleep routine but also your productivity and stress levels. While we recommend a full digital detox for best results, following these tips can be very beneficial to your overall health and wellbeing.

Bored Of The Same Four Walls? Our Top Tips to Spice Up Your Room In 2021

Feeling a little bored of your bedroom? With most of us sitting at home far more than we would normally have been this past year, chances are you might be looking to spice things up.

We could be living in our dream homes and still, at this point in a generation-defining global pandemic, I think it’s fair to say that if we have to spend one more day looking at the same four walls we’d be ready to hibernate for the rest of 2021.

With that in mind, we have looked into ways to spice up our living space to re-energise our bedrooms and give us a fresh outlook for the rest of the year.

Go subtle with the colours.

Beautiful bedrooms are meant to be soothing, comfortable areas and the best colours to achieve that are delicate colour schemes: neutral colours like whites and creams or a light colour palette. (If you’re looking for some colour inspiration – we believe sage green is sticking around!)

This doesn’t mean that your bedroom needs to be boring—if your favourite colours are bold colours, feel free to experiment with different ways to add interesting pops of colour. Try out some bold throw pillows; a busy duvet cover, or even an interesting paint colour or wallpaper on an accent wall.

Make sure you can move.

Does your room feel cramped or slightly off? Consider moving things around to create an open, peaceful environment.  Where possible, try to avoid a lot of extraneous bedroom furniture in your bedroom so that you’re not tripping over bookcases and coffee tables or squeezing past bedside tables to get to your bed.

Upgrade your bed

An old mattress, or the wrong one for your sleeping position, can contribute to night time pain and leave you dreading going to sleep.

We recommend replacing your mattress once it passes the age of 7 years, but aim to replace it sooner rather than later if you can feel the springs, regularly wake with pain or dread the thought of spending another night on top of it!

Our core collection offers a variety of mattresses all suited to different sleepers and their needs. View the collection now or find a retailer to shop the collection!

Display new art pieces

Add colour and something new to your room by displaying some new art pieces. Go with sculptures, vases and accessories on bedside tables and shelves but dress up walls with framed art. Photographs, modern art, water-colours and sketches all make a different statement and can be used to create different effects within your room.

Invest in a large mirror

The effect of mirrors is threefold – they make the room look larger, they not only reflect the natural light back in, but they also reflect what’s in the room, giving you a fresh perspective on your interior décor. And if you’re struggling to find the perfect-sized mirror for a room, choose a frame that you love and get it with mirror glass.

5 Ways to Feel Better With Music

If you’ve ever experienced ‘chills’ listening to a specific song, you know how powerful music can be. Music can inspire, comfort, motivate and relax. Single songs can bring us to tears, transport us back in time, lift our spirits or soothe our overactive minds. There really is music for every mood!

But there are also multiple science-backed benefits that show how music can regulate our emotions, boost our mood, enhance productivity levels, increase mental clarity, and even help us sleep better.

Here are some of the ways listening to music may support your self-care and well-being.

Settle the mind

If you’re feeling overwhelmed playing some calming music could be the distraction you need. According to research, listening to a peaceful playlist can soothe stress and induce relaxation by slowing your breathing and heart rate, lowering your blood pressure, and reducing the body’s levels of stress hormones.

Weekend Wind Down

Elevate your mood

We all have that one song that can shift our mood in seconds. And research has proven the link between music and mood, which can cause dopamine-release and help fend off depression. Make a playlist of your favourite songs so the next time you feel low, you have some mood-boosters in your back pocket. Bonus points if you sing along or dance to the music!

Motivational Beats To Change Your Sheets

Support concentration and focus

Research suggests that listening to music while you’re working on a task can improve focus, increase alertness and boost mental performance. So the next time you feel your concentration flagging, tune into some stimulating tracks to help power your attention.

Mattress Meditation

Boost motivation and energy

There’s a reason why exercise is easier when you’re listening to music. That’s because fast-paced, upbeat music accelerates your heartbeat and gives you a burst of energy, fuelling motivation and maximizing performance. So the next time you want to get into gear or you need to start a task you’ve been putting off, try playing your favourite energizing tracks!

Promote peaceful sleep

We all know how vital restful sleep is, yet so many of us struggle to get it. Music may help. Research shows that listening to relaxing melodies before bed can calm the nervous system, slow your breathing, lower your heart rate and reduce your blood pressure. This can help you fall asleep and stay asleep for longer.

How to bring Minimalism into your Sleep Space

When it comes to creating the perfect sleeping haven – minimalism could be your answer. Some of us prefer bright colours and lots of patterns, others will look for more neutral and muted tones. We also may consider all factors of our sleeping environment. From the colours of the walls to the level of lighting, to the mattress itself. There is so much to consider, and it can be confusing when all you want to do is create a calming space for you to unwind!

One key bedroom trend that is popular across hotels and homes alike is minimalism. Sometimes, going back to basics can be the most effective and stylish way of enhancing the look and feel of your home. Not only this, but committing to a minimalist design means you’re more likely to keep your space free of clutter – perfect for both your bedroom and your mind. Here are five top tips on how you can bring minimalism into your bedroom:

  1. What brings you joy? Navigate your way through your clothes and belongings and decide what really needs to stay. This goes for souvenirs, books, and ornaments. Not only will this help you keep the items that truly matter, it’s also a fun activity to dive into your memories whilst clearing your mind – namaste!

  1. Minimalism does not mean empty. Once you have removed a couple of things, you may feel like certain walls or spaces are a little empty. But remember – this is your space; you don’t need to sacrifice the warmth of your bedroom to follow a trend. Instead, build a Pinterest board for inspiration. This way you can decide what will work best for your space, and most importantly, for you.

  1. Let there be light! Having a more simple space gives you more room to play with lighting. Whether you have a large window to accentuate whites, greens and greys, or smaller lighting features for the evening. Lighting is crucial for helping you wind down and ultimately improve your quality of sleep.

  1. Keep calm and carry on. Bright colours can signify a louder space, so when it comes to your sleeping environment you may find yourself leaning towards more neutral colours. Inspired by nature, consider some of the following shades for your bedsheets or wall colours:

  1. Beiges: Oat, Wheat and Rye
  2. Whites: Cream, Milk and Ivory
  3. Greens: Olive, Pine, Sage

  1. Textures and textiles. If you find that your space is still feeling a little empty, go to town on the textures! Find bobbly and fuzzy pillows of varying sizes in calming colours. DIY a yarn tapestry for a pop of colour or invest in a clothing rail to put your favourite items of clothing on display.

Reminder: your sleep space is all about you, there’s no right or wrong way to go about it. May minimalism be with you, and remember to tag us @sleepeezee if you give it a go!

How To Make The Most Of Your Under Bed Storage

The space under a bed can be one of the handiest hidden storage areas in the home—if you make the most of it. The key to success is to keep it as neat and tidy as possible. That means no dust bunnies, no crinkled-up pieces of paper, and no dirty gym clothes!

How do you organise a small bedroom?

However, not everyone has the luxury of a spacious bedroom to sleep in. With more and more of us living in cities, bedrooms are getting smaller- but our belongings seem to be growing. Which can cause a problem when trying to keep things clean and tidy. To tackle this issue, we’ve got some easy advice;

  • Keep clutter in check and take old clothes to the charity shop to free up space.
  • Find creative storage solutions such as hanging storage and hooks on the back of doors and cupboards.
  • Go minimal with furniture and furnishings.
  • Choose multi-purpose bedroom furniture such as a chest of drawers that doubles as a nightstand or a space-saving storage divan beds.

However one of the easiest ways to create more space in a small room is to invest in a divan base with storage. They double as storage, preserve your mattress, and can be engineered to make it up even the narrowest of spiral staircases.

Because of the storage, a divan bed base can create a space that’s much more than simply just a place to sleep, which is especially useful if you’re limited on storage space in your home.

Not only that but you can choose what kind of built-in storage you have beneath the mattress, from Ottomans to drawers on all four sides.

Why we recommend under bed storage

We believe that a divan bed will help to maximise space in your bedroom. Fitted with hidden compartments to manage clutter, our bed frames with storage make the most of floor space. From ottomans to divans, our range is perfect for rooms which are short on space. The divans are built to be long-lasting and durable but for peace of mind, we also offer a 5-year guarantee.

The advantages of this type of under-bed storage are that it looks sleek and stylish, whilst protecting your belongings. It’s also really easy to reach and ideal for smaller living spaces. So with the right divan that sliver of space that usually only attracts dust, turns into a spot to stash clothes, books, and more!
